Ren has never understood love, guilt, or mercy. What he does understand is this: The weak survive only because the strong allow them to. By the age of six, Ren was already calculating everything around him. Every choice he made served his own interests. He could show mercy if mercy benefited him. He could be cruel if cruelty benefited him. He could remain loyal if loyalty served a purpose. And he could betray someone just as easily if betrayal brought him closer to what he wanted. Ren does not care whether the world sees him as a hero or a ruthless villain. As long as he reaches his goal, nothing else matters.
