Since childhood, Matheus has heard a foreign voice rattling inside his cranial box. An ancient thing, reeking of wet loam, the sharp scent of ozone, and sacrificial blood. This is not schizophrenia. It is a forgotten Slavic deity that chose his brain as its new sanctuary long before he uttered his first word. Matheus's family turned out to be mere stage dressing, too. The present is a fragile armistice between humanity and the chthonic filth squirming beneath the asphalt arteries of megacities. But the old pantheon is dead only on the pages of history textbooks. In a world of cheap plastic and neon signs, Old gods have begun carving up territory again. Matheus thought he was losing his mind. In truth, he was merely a pawn in an immortal turf war where the stake was the very fabric of reality. To survive, he will have to remember everything, but even that won't be enough. When the sorcery of pagan priests collides with quantum physics, and ancient curses take the shape of neural networks, a new, monstrous order is born. And the only way to drive the gods back into their abyss is to sacrifice the one thing that separates human meat from divine madness.
