Physical AI performs much ofthe world’s repetitive labor, funding a basic social dividend while leaving people free to compete fordiscovery, prestige, and a better life.War has also changed. Regional conflicts are fought mainly by autonomous drones under strict casualty-minimization rules, while millions watch remote commanders compete through global entertainmentplatforms.Reiji Kamishiro, known as “the General,” is the undefeated champion of this new form of warfare. At 118,rejuvenation treatments have preserved his body and mind, but victory has become his only remainingpurpose. He believes that zero-casualty warfare represents moral progress, until a young girl asks whathappens to communities after his battles end.During Reiji’s final exhibition, thousands of civilian and military drones are diverted into a spectacularsimulated conflict above Tokyo Bay. A super typhoon suddenly overwhelms the city’s predictive systems.Returning the drones to ordinary control would take too long.
