Endless rain is the only thing the Rain-Catchers have known since the dawn of their species. Its the only way to live, and the worst way to die.Ail Anthus lives amongst horrors of the outside where only the bark of his home, a tree that greets the clouds, remains between him and certain death. He has recently been fully initiated as a Brother Of Adder, a protector, a confidante, and a warrior but corruption always looms on the horizon, fiending on those who may pass by.After nearly dying at the petal of a Mimicry, he realizes how out of his depth he really is in this world, and begins to fear the outside far greater than he ever had before.Unfortunately, his home and his world crumbles. A tragedy wipes out most of his species leaving few to navigate the unruly world outside. The tragedy sparks a revelation that their home is dying and that what was once their world has betrayed them.Ail and company fight through the grief and push on, discovering new unknown land beyond the walls of their once great home. Marshes, oceans blanketed by impenetrable mist, merciless storms, and lava flows forming plains of ash all fall in front of them, daring them to pass. They meet vast and primitive civilizations belonging to other intelligent species much like their own; some are uncharacteristically welcoming, while others seek not for company but for dominance. How will Ail find a new home? How could he, when his fate has already been decided.
