Predatory Evolution: The Skill Thief’s Ascent

After dying at his desk from overwork, a meticulous corporate analyst is reincarnated into a harsh, monster-ridden fantasy world with a seemingly useless commoner class—until he unlocks a terrifying unique skill that allows him to permanently steal and combine abilities from every monster and human he defeats. Expanded Synopsis **The End and the Beginning** Leo Vance spent his entire life optimizing spreadsheets and surviving toxic corporate ladders, only to die of sheer exhaustion at age thirty. Instead of finding peace, his soul is thrust into **Aethelgard**, a brutal frontier world governed by a ruthless leveling system. Armed with a frail, newly reconstructed body and a baseline **[Level 1 Commoner]** class, Leo is immediately forced into a life-or-death struggle against a forest predator. **The Power of Extraction** Barely surviving his first encounter using raw wit and desperation, Leo unlocks his unique cheat: **[Skill Thief]**. Unlike normal adventurers who rely on fixed classes and slow progression, Leo can harvest traits, magic formulas, passive perks, and combat techniques directly from the creatures and enemies he slays. A wolf grants him enhanced reflexes and night vision; a minor beast gives him raw physical resilience. He realizes quickly that in this world, power isn't given—it is taken. **The Human Element** As Leo claws his way out of the wilderness and ventures into civilization, the stakes shift dramatically. He discovers that monsters are only the tip of the iceberg. Corrupt mercenaries, arrogant nobles, and rival guild factions pose a far greater threat. But they also offer the ultimate prize: *human skills*, ranging from advanced swordsmanship and elemental magic to rare administrative and craft proficiencies. **The Ascent** By combining his analytical past-life mindset with his ever-expanding arsenal of stolen abilities, Leo begins to break the rules of the system itself—fusing disparate skills into overpowered custom hybrids. Moving from a hunted outcast on the frontier to a shadowy force manipulating the geopolitical landscape, Leo sets his sights on the ultimate goal: climbing to the absolute apex of a world that tried to crush him on day one.
