My Last Petals Samison has spent seventeen years in a hospital. Not because he wanted to. Not because he was dangerous. At least, that's what he tells himself. At twenty-one, Samison is finally allowed to leave his room. His body is frail, his lungs are weak, and he knows almost nothing about the world outside the hospital walls. He doesn't know how to use a television remote. He barely remembers his family. Even ordinary things like stairs can leave him exhausted. But for the first time in his life, he's free. He gets to see his sisters again.He gets to walk outside.He gets to eat whatever he wants.He gets to meet people. And then there's Zema. She's rude, reckless, smokes around him, and seems completely unafraid of dying. Samison has spent his entire life trying to survive. Now, he has to figure out what he's actually supposed to do with the life he's been given. Because freedom is a beautiful thing. But sometimes, the petals fall before you realize the flower is dying.
