All Xianyu wanted was to take care of his mother. But in a world where might makes right, even that simple wish may be asking too much. Especially when cultivators hunger for immortality, and death is cheaper than one's next meal.
His father taught him discipline. His mother taught him love.
But it was the cruel world that taught him the value of power, and the price of not having any.
What to Expect
A weak to strong progression. Xianyu starts at the bottom and earns every step upward.
Side characters that breathe. Characters have their own personalities, motivations, and goals. No cardboard cutouts that are merely there to slap and be slapped.
Trigger warnings: graphic violence, torture, suicide, and trauma (NO sexual content or sexual violence)
Story-focused writing. I use Xianxia tropes to enhance the experience; not to override the story. You don't need to know what Cultivation is to enjoy the world.
Author’s Note
I learned a lot from my first novel and have taken those lessons forward to write a better one. The story may be revised based on constructive feedback, so feel free to comment, rate, and review.
