The Awakening has begun. Across the world, ordinary people are developing extraordinary abilities. Some wield magic, others gain superhuman powers, and a few make pacts with beings that humanity once believed were nothing more than myth. Robert "Bob" Fredrickson never expected to become one of them. When his girlfriend, Elena, is detained by ICE, Bob discovers that the ordinary world cannot—or will not—help him get her back. Desperate, he accepts an offer from Mammon, an ancient demon who promises him the power to find her. The price? The wickedest souls Bob can find. At first, Bob sees his new abilities as a means of fighting corruption and protecting the innocent. Every corrupt politician, violent criminal, and abusive authority he defeats makes him stronger. But Mammon doesn't care about justice. He cares about souls. And as Bob's power grows, so does the darkness of the bargain he has made. How far will a man go to save the person he loves—and what happens when he starts enjoying the power that comes with it?
