Paris, 2050s.
The borders are sealed. Under the promise of prevailing as the last nation still standing, the Great State of France watches every face, classifies every body, and turns obedience into a means of survival. Its schools do not educate—they select. In the streets, one wrong look can be enough to make someone disappear.
Francisc Filipescu has already learned all of this in the worst possible way. Alone, abandoned, and far too young to have lost so much, he soon discovers that something beneath his own skin has escaped the State’s notice.
And so, after years spent descending into the abyss of self-destruction, whispers begin to spread across the rooftops of Paris about a hooded figure who can leap between buildings, vanish into the night, and draw metal from his own body. To the demons in suits who once believed themselves untouchable, the legend will soon have a name: the Shadow of Death.
Every man who falls against the asphalt, every secret he uncovers, and every person he chooses to love and protect draws him closer to the true danger: elite agents, living weapons, forbidden technologies, and forces beyond human understanding. Everything begins to converge around a war that has been taking shape beneath the surface for years.
Francisc believes he is learning how to fight a world that has taken everything from him, but what lies hidden beneath Paris has been waiting far longer.
And when that wait finally ends, the horizon will split in two.
