by Chacha Jaramillo
Some stories are found in books. Others wait beside roads, beneath mountain shadows, along unfamiliar shores, or in the voices of people we meet only once. The Traveler moves from place to place carrying no map of what must be remembered. A landscape may never be named. A country may reveal itself only through rain, food, a winding road, a stranger’s kindness, or the strange feeling of recognizing somewhere you have never called home. Canada stretches across many of these roads, but the journey reaches farther—into Latin America, into memory, into migration, and into the places that helped shape the traveler long before the wheels began to turn. Each chapter preserves what one place left behind. Because sometimes we travel through a country. And sometimes a country travels with us.
