by Rick Selars
Jess wants to leave everything about Midnight Hill behind; her father’s untimely passing, her difficult to care for mother, her clingy boyfriend, and the tourist trap town’s obsession with aliens. But after a nightmare scenario plays out with her at the center of it, she’s forced to question reality. Why does it seem like the rules are constantly changing, like the roles of the people in her life keep changing, like she can’t get away? Like she’s being watched? Jess soon becomes aware of a malevolent force that’s keeping them trapped there, rewriting their reality for its own sick entertainment. With the help of her friends, Jess tries to fight back against the narrator using its own mind bending tactics against it. But as she’s soon to discover, leaving home is never easy.
