"Don't call it a comeback. I've been here for years." - LL Cool J. Back in the 90s, Rory Traynor was kind of a big deal. He was a self-made Critter handler and rising star in the National CritterKrieg League until an impulsive decision cost him everything. Turns out hiking around the world and and participating in the Critter pitfighting industry leaves one woefully unprepared for real life. Twenty years later, Rory has no money, no prospects, and a criminal record. Nothing to his name but an aging truck, his inherited family home, a dimebag of Jenovian lambswool, and whatever odd jobs he can find. He’s stuck in his old hometown of Export City, a dead-end village known for two things: its bell curve-defying single mother statistics and its ability to churn out some of the best Critter handlers on the planet. So, it should be an idiotproof plan to build the town its first training facility and arena, right? Not when fate and destiny possess better designed idiots. It's an uphill battle as Rory gets into the Critter extermination business to raise funds for his down payment. His neighbors hate him, the CritterKrieg League doesn't want him, his rivals haven't forgotten him, every handler he meets wants a piece of him, and the one hometown hero who made it big threatens to derail his plans. Can Rory turn his life around, earn a little cash, and maybe a little self-respect? Will his rivals sabotage him before he gets the chance? Or will he become his own worst enemy and do it himself? Fans of fierce action, raunchy humor, and stories of redemption and resilience won't want to miss this adventure-packed, humorous homage to the battle monster genre. Get some, fellow handlers!
