Thousands of years ago, an ancient civilization vanished from the world without explanation. Only one place still remembers them: the Archive, an endless magical library that exists outside of time, where every memory of every person who has ever died becomes a book upon its shelves. No one knows it is there. No one has ever found it — until the morning an assistant librarian named Kael, sorting forgotten donation crates in the oldest cellar of the Aurientine Library in Elaris, touches a wall that should not be there and finds a staircase that should not exist. At the bottom waits a hall of thousands of blank books and a single black volume untouched by dust or time. When Kael's fingers meet its cover, time stops, the world goes silent, and a calm ancient voice speaks a sentence that will rewrite the rest of his life.

Both levers trail the field
Traffic and conversion are both below comparable stories. Cadence is the first lever — stories posting near-daily reached 25 followers 17% of the time; stories posting every few days almost never did. Get the flow going, then re-check conversion.
Benchmarks: 8,060 active Royal Road stories, percentiles within the 5–9 chapters band, cohort of 2026-07-02. Conversion is measured as followers gained per 1,000 views lifetime.
