Finnian Ashwake is a fourth year university student, part-time thief, habitual troublemaker, and unwilling owner of one of the strangest forms of magic around. Being half angel and half daemon was supposed to be the unusual part. Instead, Finnian has Glitch. Unpredictable magic with no known origin, no reliable rules, and an irritating tendency to get worse whenever they panic. Most days, though, Finnian has more important things to worry about. Dodging campus security, keeping their giant Treant best friend Oakley out of trouble, surviving Professor Stonebeard's classes, and figuring out how much they can steal before someone notices. Unfortunately, Glitch has been acting strange lately. Stranger than usual. And when you live in a world of angels, daemons, faeries, dragons, ancient magic, and dwarven professors with dangerously large stamps, "strange" can become everyone else's problem remarkably quickly. Finnian certainly isn't trying to become a hero. But sometimes adventure doesn't ask. Sometimes you're just the idiot standing closest to it.

Both levers trail the field
Traffic and conversion are both below comparable stories. Cadence is the first lever — stories posting near-daily reached 25 followers 17% of the time; stories posting every few days almost never did. Get the flow going, then re-check conversion.
Benchmarks: 8,060 active Royal Road stories, percentiles within the 10–19 chapters band, cohort of 2026-07-02. Conversion is measured as followers gained per 1,000 views lifetime.
