In a forgotten age of the world, long before the histories anyone remembers, power belongs to the gods, and the gods share it on their own terms. When a person is ready, a god reaches into their mind with a voice and a name and lifts them out of the ordinary, feeding them strength, guiding their climb, and quietly owning them for as long as they stay useful. To be Claimed this way is the only path up. To be passed over is to be nothing.
