They say excess of anything is bad — pleasure, money, wisdom. Even happiness. But what about the opposite? What happens when someone runs out, completely, of everything worth having? Sleepless never had much to live for, except the simple fact that he hadn't died yet. That might change. Soon enough. In a world where the Pull drags people into deadly visions, only the Awakened come back with power. Everyone else dies. Survive the Pull… or come back as something that shouldn't exist. Damned if he does. Doomed if he doesn't.
