The lawless Dalton gang breaks into St. Mary’s Church looking for hidden gold, only to be confronted by the town's new priest and newly appointed sheriff, Father Xavier Dynamite. Wearing a sleek Lee Van Cleef-style western outfit and armed with a 9-inch meteorite cross that grants him enhanced cosmic senses, Xavier deflects a bandit's bullet and single-handedly pummels the gang. Exhausted from the fight, Xavier is visited by the crimson demon Lucifer, who expresses concern for the stubborn priest. Seizing the opportunity, Xavier convinces a reluctant Lucifer to become his lead deputy sheriff in exchange for absolute control over the county jail cells. Before they can celebrate, a fleeing bandit tosses a Molotov cocktail at the church doors, but Lucifer uses his demonic powers to step into the inferno and instantly snuff out the flames.
