An older passenger in civilian clothes walks up the aisle of a Boeing 747 and bypasses classified cockpit security by entering a code from perfect muscle memory. Inside, he holds his younger self—co-pilot Jack Anderson—at gunpoint and orders him out of the flight deck. Sliding into the co-pilot seat, the older Jack reveals to a terrified Captain Steve that he has traveled thirty years back in time to prevent a catastrophic crash for which he was wrongfully imprisoned. Jack explains that Steve was originally murdered in the cockpit, framing Jack for the disaster. Before they can fix the timeline, a manic flight attendant overrides the door lock, stabs Jack, and mechanically sabotages the fuel lines and stabilizer trim. The airliner enters an irreversible terminal dive and explodes into the desert floor, fracturing Jack’s consciousness so he can wake up and try the time loop all over again.
