Eighteen years after a devastating outbreak forced civilization into a massive underground bunker, humanity has finally found peace—or so everyone believes. Sixteen-year-old Kai only wants to live a normal life, become captain of his school's famous Zombie Football team, and graduate from Alpha Military High. But everything changes when a political coup shatters the fragile balance holding the bunker together. As rival factions fight over secrets buried beneath the city, Kai is drawn into a conspiracy that reaches far deeper than anyone imagined. With war closing in and the bunker on the verge of collapse, Kai is forced to escape onto the ruined surface for the first time in eighteen years, where the truth behind the outbreak begins to unravel. Some secrets were buried to save humanity. Others were buried to protect it from the truth.
