The Unknowing Scholar

In a world ruled by martial artists, sects, clans, and the power of qi, Yun Hyunwoo has no desire to become the strongest. He simply wants to understand the world. An orphan raised in a small village, Hyunwoo's life changes when a wandering scholar arrives and settles there. Fascinated by the man's knowledge, the young boy begins visiting him every day, helping with his research and asking far more questions than anyone could possibly answer. Years pass, and the scholar becomes more than a teacher. He becomes the father Hyunwoo never had. From him, Hyunwoo learns to value knowledge over strength and curiosity over ambition. But eventually, his master's health begins to fail. Before his death, the old scholar reveals the dream he never managed to fulfill—to see the Imperial Library, the greatest collection of knowledge in the Central Plains. After his master's death, Hyunwoo decides to fulfill that final wish. And so, a young scholar with little understanding of the martial world begins his journey toward the Imperial Capital. Along the way, he meets countless people. He helps those in need simply because he can. He befriends people who happen to cross his path. He occasionally makes enemies without even understanding why. Before long, talented martial artists and strange individuals begin travelling alongside him. To Hyunwoo, this is perfectly normal. He is simply travelling, learning, asking questions, and helping people along the way. But to the martial world, things look very different. Rumors begin to spread about the mysterious young scholar who has gathered talented martial artists around him. Influential figures begin watching his movements. His every action is interpreted as part of some hidden plan. By the time Hyunwoo reaches the Imperial Capital, he has unknowingly become entangled in the struggle between the Imperial Princes. They believe he is secretly building his own faction. They believe he is hiding his true intentions. Some even begin to consider him a potential threat to the Imperial Throne. The only problem? Hyunwoo has absolutely no idea what they are talking about. He doesn't even realize that some of the people he casually meets, argues with, or accidentally offends are among the most powerful figures in the Empire. In a world where everyone is searching for hidden motives, ancient techniques, political schemes, and paths to greater power, one young scholar simply wants to learn. And that may be exactly what makes him so dangerous.
