**Every January 1st, the sky turns red.** Since the Great Catastrophe, dragons descend once a year during the Night Walk, reducing cities and bunkers alike to ash. Humanity survives as best it can, counting its dead at dawn. Rashford is just another orphan in this broken world—until the night he crosses paths with Joe Ng-Kak, the Empire’s most feared dragon slayer, a man capable of erasing titanic creatures with a single gesture. One question takes root in him and refuses to leave: *Why am I still alive?* The answer lies at the Dragon Slayer Academy, where students are not merely taught to fight—they are forged into weapons. Mental energy reshapes both body and soul. Rivalries are encouraged rather than suppressed. Every emotion becomes fuel for a power that can decide the difference between life and death. Amid camaraderie born of blood and struggle, ruthless hierarchies, and the growing shadow of a dragon god that never truly disappeared, Rashford will have to choose: Remain a victim of this world… or become the one who changes it. **The hunt has only just begun.**
