My Magic Teacher Is Brilliant... in Theory

Emily Chaffey has a secret. By day she's a popular high school senior trying to survive her last year before graduation. By night she's the kind of girl who would rather spend the weekend playing Dungeons & Dragons than worrying about popularity. More than anything, Emily dreams that magic might actually exist. She never expects to find proof. While hiking in the forests of Northern California, Emily discovers Ryan, a young mage stranded on Earth after a summoning spell goes disastrously wrong. Ryan can heal impossible injuries, reshape matter itself, and turn a diseased oak into ash with the flick of a wand... but somehow has no idea how passports, smartphones, or drive-through restaurants work. As Emily helps Ryan build a new life on Earth, he agrees to teach her real magic. But learning magic uncovers a truth neither of them saw coming. Earth has always had mages. They've remained hidden for centuries. And Emily's family has been connected to that hidden world far longer than she realizes. Now a powerful secret society is searching for the mysterious outsider whose arrival should have been impossible. Emily thought her greatest obstacle would be keeping Ryan—and his magic—out of the hands of the United States government. She was wrong.
