Veruca Harper has a problem. Actually, several huge ones. She killed her boyfriend—who also happened to be the alpha of an Austin werewolf pack—right after he infected her on their fifth date. Now, thanks to the politics of the veiled—supernatural creatures hiding in plain sight—she’s expected to lead his pack before her first transformation. That means keeping them alive against rival werewolf packs, dealing with a vampire crime family hunting her people, making amends to a fae syndicate, and negotiating a truce with a demonic cult in central Texas. Veruca just wants her quiet human life back managing a small independent coffee shop. She’s barely qualified for that, let alone leading a pack through an underworld no human even knows exists. But she’s their alpha now. Whether she likes it or not.
