Jakes was once part of a global research team. Their goal: to uncover the recent discoveries of human evolution. When they found enough evidence to declare it to the world, their unveiling was stopped by some organizations that found the discovery, problematic. Defeated in the court, they were stripped off of everything they had and put to separate prisons. Years later, those same organizations accompanied with the governments of the world seek out the researchers, Jake in particular due to unexpected anomalies happening across the globe; the same things the researchers warned about.
