The Wall has held for five hundred years. It doesn't care who's standing on it. It only cares that someone always is. Every year the kingdom empties itself into that need: orphans, debtors, extra sons, anyone with no better claim on their own life, and calls it a levy. Kael was one more name on one more year's list. He knelt at the Rite like everyone else and rose an Acolyte, one star, a class so unremarkable most soldiers forget they ever served beside one. Kael's class doesn't act like the others. It spends a currency no notification has ever explained, answers to something with no record in five centuries of Church history, and has done more to hold this war together than a one-star class ever should. A LitRPG about the price of being chosen by something that isn't supposed to exist anymore.
