Rodion was always a little bit of an underachiever.
Nearly expelled from the Academy, still the weakest out of the sorcerers he knows, and on the verge of falling into debt once more, he has the last chance to prove to the world that his choices aren’t all wrong.
Now in charge of an ongoing investigation – the result of which will determine if he may become a full-fledged detective – Rodion finds himself in quite a pickle.
On the one hand, he’s got himself an ally in the form of a Crucible Knight, an older brother of the deceased. On the other hand, the aspiring detective isn’t quite sure who to fear more, the thugs they are chasing, or his temporary partner, whose habits fit only on a particularly brutal battlefield.
Nevertheless, Rodion doesn’t have a choice. He botched the last two chances he got, and a fourth one is an impossibility.
He will do everything to finally succeed.
