The System doesn't explain itself. It hands out classes, quests, stat sheets — and lets you die figuring out the rest. Kayde Osei doesn't get a flashy class. No blade-wielding prodigy, no elemental prodigy waking up with a firestorm in his hands. What he gets is worse and better at once: The Auditor — a hidden class that lets him see the System not as magic, but as software. Broken conditionals. Unpatched exploits. Rules that only hold if nobody checks them closely enough. He built a career finding bugs other people missed. Turns out that skill didn't die with his last paycheck. The math is simple and it is ugly: every exploit he finds subtracts from something, somewhere. Nothing in this System is free, and Kayde is the only one keeping the ledger. Around him, the wreckage of an old world tries to hold its shape. Tomas Reyes, a paramedic whose healing class keeps him human in a place built to strip that away. Mrs. Aldana, who has buried more people than she has strength left to bury, and keeps going anyway. Errol Voss, locked in a scripted loop of his old apartment — except something inside the loop is starting to remember it isn't supposed to be there. And Cole, who found the same kind of loopholes Kayde did, and decided the correct response was to climb over everyone else on the way up. Somewhere above all of them, an entity Kayde only knows as The Ghost leaves comments in the code. Dev notes. Annotations. The kind of thing that shouldn't exist in a finished system — unless it isn't finished. Unless somebody built it, and that somebody is still watching. This isn't a story about becoming the strongest. It's about being the only one willing to read the terms of service before signing — and finding out that exploiting an unjust system doesn't make you innocent. It just makes you complicit in a different way.
