A girl wanders into Lowood Den. Her eyes are missing, and her body is covered in lacerations that spell out terrifying prophecies about the return of an ancient and cataclysmic threat. Tasked with seeking answers, Pontis Inoue and Varia Longley travel north into the unknown. Away from home for the first time, they will encounter a world much stranger and more violent than the one they knew. They will strike precarious alliances, confront grotesque enemies, and be called upon to sacrifice more than they even knew they had as they find themselves center-stage in a battle to save the people they love—and to reckon with humanity’s place in the universe.
