Dying was supposed to be the best thing that ever happened to Minokawa. When the truck hits him, he wakes up inside Empty Sea, the MMORPG he gave years of his life to, with an upgraded body, a hidden class no player has ever unlocked, and a world he knows down to its last exploit. There's just one thing missing: everyone. Every other person around him is a hollow NPC puppet walking the same loop for eternity. The food tastes like nothing. The people, from the tavern girl to the king himself, do nothing no matter what he does to them. It doesn't matter if he saves the city or burns it to the ground. By morning it all resets, and he's still the only living thing in paradise. Power without witnesses. Freedom without consequence. In a total void, a man can only hold himself together for so long. At some point, lost, Minokawa stopped trying. Then the world stops resetting. The fires he set stay burning. A letter arrives in handwriting no NPC could produce: You're not the only one trapped here. And in the smoking ruins of the capital, a girl who also spent her whole life hiding inside this game wakes up in the only world that ever wanted her, picks up a holy sword, and swears to destroy the Demon King who destroyed her real home. Because Empty Sea was never just a game. It's alive, and it has an unfinished story left to tell, with a role already written for its favourite player: The final boss. Now a villain who knows the world is fake and a hero who needs it to be real are on a collision course across a dying paradise, and the game intends to keep them both. Forever. A dark comedy that rots into psychological horror. A love letter to the games we disappear into — and a warning about the ones that don't give us back. For readers who love morally compromised antiheroes, game mechanics played terrifyingly straight, and laughing right up until it stops being funny. What to expect: ☑ A slow-cooking, character-focused story ☑ Villain MC vs. Hero MC. Dual POV on a collision course ☑ A living game that railroads its players into a story they can't refuse ☑ Glitches, exploits, and MMO mechanics weaponised by a veteran player ☑ Found family, gallows humour, and grief in equal measure ☑ No harem. No power fantasy without a price.
