Cassandra lost her mother at a critical moment. Lost to a single, poorly calculated decision, her mother's death forces Cassandra into a decision that she never believed she would actually have to make: Whether or not to risk her own life to claim her late mother's dragon, or to guarantee her safety at the cost of her family's stability. With very little time to decide, Cassandra's decision is rushed, both by herself and by her father. Having chosen her path, Cassandra is forced into a horrific venture across the sea that demands she either slaughter the innocent people living there, or turn against her own kin in their defence. Cassandra struggles, warring with herself. But when the Creator makes herself known to Cassandra, her world is shaken, changed forever.
