A psychological horror descent into madness set against the backdrop of the First World War, Congealment explores the struggle to find peace with one's self in the face of certain death. In the dying days of the Battle of Verdun, a squad of German soldiers takes refuge in one of the last forts standing, with one order: hold it at any cost. As the enemy siege wears them down and isolation and paranoia turn them against each other, they must find comfort in knowing that as long as they hold fast, they will escape with their lives. Reinforcements will bring relief. They are wrong. Help is never coming. They are not alone. Reality frays at the seams and past bleeds into present. Their own minds will be their undoing.
