The New United States is one poorly placed protest away from catastrophe. Concealed inside government research facilities, hundreds of canisters containing a newly discovered strain of smallpox remain locked away. But when power hungry Pr. Isaiah Forrester threatens to unleash the virus on the nation to crush any hint of rebellion, millions of lives depend on one choice. Gunner Fielding hadn't always known there was something different about him. What he still doesn't know is that the same virus capable of wiping out humanity already lives within him—and it may be the key to stopping it. As mysterious abilities arise, Gunner is thrust into a desperate race against time alongside a team of equally confused teenagers, each holding secrets of their own. If they fail, Forrester won't just spark a pandemic—he'll bring an entire nation to its knees. Unrest is spreading, and Gunner may be humanity's last hope.
