Volume 1: On an alien world whose residents can play at casinos in childhood, Janick is thrown, from birth, into a world where parents fight each other over things such as material possessions, academics, sports, and casino prowess. Little does Janick know is that she will end up becoming a poster child on her own terms, both on the rink and the green carpet, while having to battle her way through a world filled with licensed cheaters. Volume 2: After the Hockey Pee-Wee World Championship, where Janick got injured shortly after scoring the game-winning goal during the grand final, she abandons hockey entirely, and she must find ways to recover and reinvent herself, in a world where casinos and alcohol are at every corner, as she begins high school. Volume 3: Janick, now a math professor at the University of Pyruvate, is dealing with rising tensions between her own children's sports federations, even as the court designates her family as a foster family for one Allison. But between an alcoholic who's taken away from her parents, and the fundraising needs of the children's sports, they don't suspect that something more sinister is afoot in Pyruvate's casinos.
