"Retire truly young! Reincarnate with the Early Death Package!"
In a world of magic, mystery and industry, Chase Rampart spent years stuck working in a government office dedicated to breaking the law. So, when she becomes eligible for the Early Death Package, she leaps at the chance. But she’s reincarnated as a Gathlain, a foot high part plant, part fairy. Her dreams of noir detectivehood-- fancy pistol and fashionable drinking problem included-- now impossibly large.
When a desperate father hires her to investigate a case of mail-order lycanthropy, Chase has no idea that she's been set on a path to investigating the crimes of a dangerously narcissistic goddess of the arts. What she does know is that she's too short for this shit.
Enter Layla Peregrine, an ex-mercenary with a bulletproof body and a perpetually unpaid tab. She’s provocative. She’s experienced. Of most immediate relevance to Chase, she’s normal-people-sized.Together, Peregrine and Chase must beat the clock as they become embroiled in a multi-layered conspiracy of frame-jobs, lethal IP law, and deceitful gods who’re up to no good. Well, those dastardly deities had better watch out… …Because detectives Peregrine and Chase are on the case!
