Thaloria is a world powered by mana, a mystifying luminous fuel .Once it's dug up and refined,it powers everything that matters, lights in the cities, airships, rail lines, guns and so much more. But there is only so much mana and the wells run dry. For generations great houses have gotten rich off deals made around mana wells, deals which are now collapsing due to the state of the wells. New deals albeit questionable, are being struck and as they try to grab whatever is left, the great houses inch closer and closer towards a war whose cost they are not ready to bear. While they are aware of this fact, no one wants to be left with nothing. People of Thaloria are able to form bonds with echoes, elemental "spirits" that grant them varying levels of power. While this influences what power is,whoever controls mana, controls everything else. Devvyn, a sharp-mouthed kid with no noteworthy house or family name to be mentioned was raised by an inventor and has lived his entire life on the outside of it all. The world he spent his whole life watching from a distance is starting to crumble and something old and long-buried is rising from the chaos. He's about to find himself closer to the center of things than he ever wanted to be.
