AM I A MONSTER? Halon has never understood why people look at him the way they do. Some fear him. Others pity him. No one ever tells him why. Only one person ever made him feel accepted. Then, in a single night, Halon loses him. Alone and hunted, the thirteen-year-old finds himself trapped at the bottom of a canyon where every path leads back to itself. No matter how far he climbs, the canyon always brings him back. For nearly two years, Halon survives among creatures that should not exist. Until someone else reaches the bottom alive. The stranger should have died long before reaching the canyon. Instead... the canyon opens. Beyond lies a world that fears monsters above all else. As they travel together, people recoil the moment they see Halon. Some whisper. Some reach for their weapons. Some would rather kill a frightened boy than risk letting him walk away. The stranger sees something in him. Something terrifying. For the first time, Halon begins to wonder if everyone else was right. Am I a monster?
