I finally had it. After all those years, I finally graduated.
Soon, I'd have a real job. I'd be a full-fledged steam engineer. I'd have enough money… Enough to save my aging father from his indentured servitude.
Everything was ripped away from me in an instant.
No… Rather, it was me who was ripped away.
Away from my world. Away from everything I knew. Away from everyone I cared about.
All so I could become the ‘Champion’ of some faraway God – one who claims to value an “open working relationship”, but doesn't exactly understand what it means.
And, why would he?
Would a human try to understand their pet fish?
Regardless, I must play his game.
And if I manage to survive the ‘competition’ this God is preparing me for… I might just be able to go back.
