Colton's father, Burke, arranged his marriage to provide cover and set him on the right path. Colton is far from excited, but feels trapped in a small Georgia town where his father holds profound influence. Everything in Colton's life from his home to his car he owes to Burke and Colton is too terrified of the man to change that. Colton's foreman at work and friend, Zael, is a former New Yorker that moved south years ago with his son. Colton did not invite him to his wedding on purpose: he didn't want to be there, so why inflict it on Zael? Zael's very presence could lead to a violent end that he does not appreciate.
