I am trying to bottle light, here. I am trying to catch sound with a net. So I will give you this instead. Imagine: blue pines, liquid air, the hiss of saltwater over flat sand. A buzzing forest, a frothing green sky, pollen spores sifting over everything like golden dust. A conch shell building, a never-ending labyrinth of unexplainable white. A town surrounded by whispering marsh, grey ocean, and endless fields. A city that drowns and surfaces with the exhalation of stone, the center of everything. Do you see what I mean? I have been trapping fireflies. I even built a radio. Neither do these imaginings any justice. Now, the normal way: A few kids. Some scientists, a man, and others. A town, a laboratory, a forest, an ocean. Radiation. Sound connecting it all. It holds memory like water, you know.
