Three Black Dragon Cards. One haunted club. No ordinary school. Elias Vale only wanted a quiet start at Ault Academy, a self-governing city-school where student councils run economies, discipline committees command factions, and every club is a power bloc in disguise. Then a phantom cat throws him together with Kael Voss, a cold young swordsman, and Julian Cross, a charming ex-priest with a dangerous smile. All three carry Black Dragon Cards, the kind of invitation that makes powerful people notice. When Serena Noctis, president of the Third Discipline Committee, tries to recruit them, the three refuse and are locked out of every club on campus. Their loophole is the abandoned Natural History Society, a club with zero members, a billion-ka headquarters, and a reputation as one of Ault Academy's seven unsolved mysteries. To survive, they will need to solve the Ghost Hall, recruit allies no sane club would touch, and learn who is turning academy politics into a battlefield. A school this powerful does not educate its students. It tests whether they can rule.
