Author’s Note: This is a slow-paced story. Reaching the main plot requires several important chapters from the past, because those events are essential to the rest of the story and to the true purpose behind it. - In a world where the dead do not always stay dead, some memories are more dangerous than ghosts. Before he vanished, Evan had already become one of the fixed points of Caelia’s life, someone woven through years of classrooms, silences, arguments, and small acts of care neither of them knew how to name. Caelia has always believed that losing someone means learning to live with their absence. But when the boy she once tried to save returns carrying secrets that do not belong to an ordinary disappearance, she is pulled into a hidden world of unfinished deaths, buried truths, and creatures that wear the shape of grief. Some people disappear because they are gone. Others disappear because the world is trying to forget them.
