Well, Bartholomew Brown was pretty sure he was not in the standard fantasy story, no matter what you may say about ripping people through space and time to a magical world. He thought this mainly because the world was usually saved by the dashing hero, summoned to quell evil and thwart villains. Two things wrong with this: One, he was nowhere near a hero, and he wasn’t sure there was a villain. He was a lanky bookworm. Two, the floating god thingamajig that ripped him through the fabric of reality had said it was happening, whether they liked it or not. He personally didn't plan on arguing with it, no matter how much he doubted it's trustworthiness. But there was a bright side… Besides the figure of pure light, of course. According to said being of power and generosity, he and 999 other lucky individuals were being sent as pioneers to a new magical world of wonder and opportunity. But Bart smelled bull, and he didn't like how many things were going off the normal script, and he especially didn't like how he kept being flung through wormholes like a flailing fish. The thing is, this god was also giving them magic. Bart did like that part. He really liked that part. That also meant there was a system behind everything, a system he could learn to understand… and maybe just use to his advantage. If he was lucky, he might also be able to unravel the mystery of exactly what was going on… while also becoming a wizard along the way. He may or may not have asked the god for a spellbook… don't laugh. What? He already said he was a bookworm.
