With nothing but a knife to defend herself, Pilate fights. Night after night, she steps into the ring in a basement of an abandoned motel, where the lights flicker and the bedsheets are stale. She wins just often enough to stay alive, and returns home to the man who raised her. Then she meets Hayden. Awkward, skinny, and hopeless with a knife, Hayden should have been utterly forgettable. When a devastating betrayal forces Pilate to question everything she believes, Hayden offers her a way forward—a chance to escape, uncover the truth, and perhaps build a future beyond the life chosen for her. Bu some cages are harder to break free from.
