Kelly Kaye spent fifteen years being essential to someone else's story. She knew when the hostage was lying, when the henchman was about to break, when the room was about to go sideways. She just couldn't put it on a poster. When Juliette's new agent calls the meeting, it takes eleven minutes. Kelly doesn't fight it. The Sidekick follows Kelly through the wreckage of a life built entirely in someone else's orbit: the unglamorous, failing, humiliating work of becoming a person at the wrong age, in a world that only ever wanted her to be useful to someone worth watching. She was always the one who saw everything. She never learned to look at herself.
