by Manglende
He wakes alone in a field outside a ruined city, his arms etched with strange silver scars that pulse like a second heartbeat. No memories. No name. No idea why the sky is full of machines, searching. The ground for miles around is scorched and broken. And every person who looks at him reacts the same way: first fear, then recognition, then something close to hatred. He doesn’t remember doing anything wrong. He doesn’t feel like the kind of person they’re describing. But the world has already decided who he is, and what he’s owed for it. With a stranger who knows more than she’s saying, and an empire’s hunters closing in from every direction, he has one chance to find out the truth before it finds him first.
