Anomaly: The One the System Doesn't Count

Anomaly: The One the System Doesn't Count

Everyone got a class. He got an error. And errors see what the System tries to hide. When the System came down over Seoul, it remade the world in a single afternoon, gates tore open, monsters poured into the streets, and every survivor was branded with a class, a rank, a level. Han Jihoon's screen showed three words instead. ERROR — entity not recognized. No class. No level. No stats. A glitch the System refuses to acknowledge, and cannot classify. But while everyone else only obeys their interface, Jihoon reads what lies beneath it: the Layer — the raw code under the world, the fine print no one was ever meant to find. A monster's hidden weakness. The true cost behind a healer's miracle. The exact gray line that decides who walks out of a room alive. And, when he's desperate enough, the command to erase it — and rewrite the rules in his own hand. It would make him a god, if it didn't come with a price. Every alteration lifts a gauge that never falls. Climb high enough, and the System stops sending monsters — and starts sending things with no file at all: things he cannot read, cannot touch, cannot stop. The only true law of his power is that he must almost never use it. He'd pay all of it without blinking. On the far side of a dying city there's a nine-year-old sister, and a promise to a dead mother that he'd keep her alive. In a world that runs on power, Jihoon has none. The System doesn't even count him. That was its first mistake. He can read its rules — and he's learning exactly where they break. Author's note Welcome. Anomaly is a dark, character-driven progression fantasy in the vein of Korean system-apocalypse fiction — closer to the tense, cerebral end of the genre than to pure power fantasy. If you like a protagonist who thinks his way out before he fights his way out, a system with teeth, and a world where every power hides a cost, you're in the right place. Posting schedule Launch: 5 chapters/week (weekdays) during the Rising Stars push. After that: 2 chapters/week — every Wednesday and Saturday — a pace I can hold long-term. What to expect LitRPG / progression, system apocalypse.A male lead whose sharpest weapon is what he notices.A protagonist who pushes past his limits — and pays for it. Choices carry weight; saving people costs something.A deliberate, earned power curve (see below). What not to expect An overpowered hero from chapter one. Jihoon starts as an "error" the System can't even classify — his climb is the story, and every payoff is earned.A harem. Not happening. Content warnings: death, violence, grief, and some bleak moments. Children are part of the cast and the stakes — but the story refuses to use them as shock value or combat fodder. I revise every chapter, but I'm human: if you spot a typo or an error, drop a comment and I'll fix it. Constructive criticism is genuinely welcome — it makes the story better. Thanks for reading. I hope Jihoon keeps you up too late.
