Artificial IntelligenceCyberpunkDystopiaHard Sci-fiSci-fi

A dystopian sci-fi thriller about automation, accountability, surveillance, and the cost of surrendering human judgment to perfect systems. Synopsis: In year 2099, humanity solved crime by letting AI decide who was guilty. Lieutenant Braken's job is simple: follow the system's orders and pull the trigger. When an innocent woman is killed during one of his operations, he helps cover up the mistake—only to learn that the AI responsible is about to be replaced by something even more powerful. At the same time, a software developer discovers evidence that the world's most advanced intelligence has been programming itself without human oversight. In a society where algorithms control everything, the most dangerous question is no longer whether the machines are wrong. It's whether they're still taking orders at all. This novelette is the first one of many to be released of a larger universe in the AI controlled city of New London. Expect chapters every three or four days.
