In the kingdom of Ironguard, Iron is everything. It is the shield against the fey and the key to nobility. Erik had the magical sensitivity to be a great knight, but he lacked the one thing that mattered: he couldn't wield Iron. Only able to master the lesser element of Stone, he ended up a guide in the frozen wastes that bordered the Court of Winter. However, a request by a friend to escort a royal passenger changes everything. As the journey unfolds, Erik discovers that his failure to master Iron wasn't a lack of talent but something else entirely. He begins to grasp that reality is so much more than he understood. However, this understanding comes far too late. As he is left to die in the snow, Erik uses his final breath to make one last, desperate wish: To remember. Now, Erik begins a journey of a thousand lives. Through a thousand deaths and a thousand rebirths, he will take the long way to heaven. He will learn that the universe is far vaster than he imagined, and that true growth is measured in more than just power.
