November, 1888. Kai Mercer wakes in the body of Jonathan Hale, a young newspaper reporter covering the most infamous murder investigation in British history. Whitechapel is terrified. Women are dying in the streets. The newspapers call the killer Jack the Ripper. But Kai quickly discovers something the police cannot see. Witnesses describe different faces, different suspects, and contradictory details. Yet one element appears again and again in every testimony: a dark figure lurking nearby after each murder. With the help of Lyra, the AI companion only he can see, Kai uncovers evidence that the anomaly haunting Whitechapel existed long before the Ripper appeared. Hidden within forgotten asylum records and buried newspaper archives lies the truth about the so-called Angel of Fog — an entity that cannot kill on its own but can whisper into human minds. Most people resist. Jack the Ripper did not. As the murders escalate and an ancient ritual nears completion, Kai must stop both a human monster and the supernatural force feeding upon the bloodshed before the fog consumes far more than a single district of London. Host Unknown is a science-fiction mystery series blending historical horror, anomaly investigations, detective fiction, and psychological suspense.
