Seroth: Laws Beyond Magic [An Eldritch Progression Mystery Fantasy]

“Your home doesn’t exist. Nowhere in this world, at least.” Nine years ago, eleven-year-old Sein found himself in a forest filled with murderous monsters, nearly bleeding out until a man in a coat too clean for the mud offered him a choice:  Become his disciple, or die. Sein chose the former. Now twenty, armed with nine years of his mentor’s questionable lessons, Sein has finally left the wilderness behind and entered the crowded city. His goal? Find a way back to Earth. First, however, he needs a job. The Bureau of Protection investigates the impossible: staircases that grow extra steps, men who receive phone calls from themselves, and tenants who lost their names. The pay is good, and the benefits include resurrection. And somewhere within the Bureau may be the first real clue to Earth. But magic is merely the beginning. Beyond spells lie strange laws, hostile Territories, and those who conquer them: Seroths. Sein will have to investigate his way through the anomalies, both outside and within his own body, and hope he’s still human enough by the end of everything.
